Your clutch is prone to wear and tear. It is likely to happen as the miles on your car build up or if you drive short trips in stop and go traffic or if you like driving at high-speed performance or sports style. New or inexperienced drivers are also hard on clutches, if this is the case, you will need to do clutch service sooner than later. However, familiarizing yourself with some of the known clutch issues can save you a lot of money. Moreover, you can troubleshoot many issues without the need of paid assistance.

If you hear a noise coming from your clutch, this is a clear indication that your clutch or one part connected to it needs attention. This may mean that you already need a thorough check on all of the clutch parts.

Aside from noise, another indicator that you may need clutch service is if there is slippage. The clutch must release to allow safe operation of the vehicle this permits us to stop and go and also change gears but if, after releasing the clutch the engine RPM’s increase but the vehicle speed does not or at highway speed in higher gears the same happens you may have a problem with your clutch and need replacement. If your clutch has high miles or been subjected to abuse, you might just need to replace it. Over time, the pressure plate clutch disc and the flywheel can wear with all the clutch activities.

Slippage may also be due to oil leakage regardless age. Oil leaks can cause damage to the clutch causing it to slip under load. This will create more slippage. When slippage occurs frequently, it will eventually damage your pressure plate clutch disc and your flywheel.

Another common issue is if your clutch would not release when the clutch pedal is depressed. At this point, the clutch may not be the issue but other parts that are associated to it. Some reasons for your clutch to act up like this are due to misaligned linkage, faulty clutch cylinders, broken cable, and defective clutch pedal.

If you are having difficulty shifting the clutch while driving, an issue with the clutch pedal is more likely. A linkage or cable in the clutch pedal might be causing this. A damaged pivot ball or release fork might be the reason, too. It could be that the seal surrounding the hydraulic system is defective causing loss of fluid that will limit the travel of the release bearing. Replacing them might solve the problem but if this issue reoccurred or has been present for a long period of time a bigger problem may be causing this. You may need a thorough clutch service for this one.

If your car was purchased used, you may need to have clutch service on the entire system. The previous owners might have done many upgrades on the clutch parts. If you are experiencing many issues from different parts, this is an indicator that the parts are not compatible to each other. The best thing you can do is to do an over haul on your clutch system to get them back working smoothly.

Wear and tear of your clutch is an inevitable thing to happen. However, how you use your clutch while you are on the road will determine your clutch’s life span. Giving it smooth and even shifting and taking care not to ride the clutch (leaving your foot on the clutch pedal while driving) are some of the things to help lengthen the life of your clutch. Moreover, do not forget a proper maintenance check on it frequently to avoid clutch service. Proper care and minor maintenance can add years and miles to your clutch.

With the warm weather we now frequently experience, its a great comfort to have cool air inside your car while you travel. However, cooling systems can break down. Proper maintenance and inspection of your air conditioning system can be an intimidating task. However, without doing periodic checks on your AC system it can cost you a fortune in the long run. Air-conditioning system service and repairs can be very expensive.

Warning signs to look for: Once you notice that the air emitted inside your car is warm, or not cooling as it should, it may be an indication that there is an issue. Moreover, if the air in your car is cool at first but turns warm after driving, it is another sign that your system maybe in need of service. At this point a recharge of the refrigerant may be needed or parts may need to be replaced.

If you are purchasing a used automobile that has air conditioning, it is a good idea to have it checked out by a reputable service shop to insure that it is functioning properly.

One of the common problems with the A/C in your car is a simple fuse wire connection. Once you turn the air conditioning on and the compressor did not start up, the issue maybe with the fuse or electrical system. It could be a wiring issue to the fuse or the fuse itself. If this is the case, you can easily replace the fuse.

If replacing the fuse did not solve the issue, and if you are not handy with a wrench yourself, then your next option is to locate a experienced auto mechanic to take a look at it. Common parts that fail are seals, lines and compressors

The two most common problems with car air conditioning systems are;

Leaks: As your automobile ages, hoses and other sealed components of the air conditioning system may start leaking.

Lubrication: make sure your air conditioning system is properly lubricated and the correct recommended lubricated is used. If the wrong lubricate is used it could damage your system

If you believe that your system is failing, you should contact one of the local air conditioning service and repairs centers specializing in troubleshooting issues with your A/C. Concord Mechanical has the experience to handle both the latest model automobiles as well as your vintage classic when it comes to air conditioning issues. Contact Concord Mechanical today, your local ASE certified repair and service center in Western New York if you are having any issues with your car.

When ever something is wrong with your car, your world stops and you feel helpless because of it. Americans love their automobiles. You get the feeling that you are not able to function properly or be productive without your car. You can always do something though; a car full of problems needs engine service and repairs.

Engine service and repairs can address known or unknown problems and difficulties in any car. But an immediate problem that you will have to face before having your car serviced is the fact that other services out there are not really what they say they are. They may not do the job that they claim and your vehicle will still be broken. What you need is a service center that you can fully trust to the job for you.

With skilled, well-trained technicians and staff certified by the National Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Institute, engine service and repairs centers are able to offer a wide range of services. Their services also include computer diagnostics, both major and minor repairs. Concord Mechanical is western New York’s premier auto repair and service shop is ASE certified. If you have any issues with your car contact them today.

An ASE certification involves two-year documentation or related work experiences and the passing of specific tests. An efficient engine service and repairs center must be familiar with both foreign and domestic vehicle types. It must be able to meet the many different needs of these vehicle brands. It must also be able handle the problems and issues within the engine computer system in all modern vehicles, which is called the Electronic Control Module (ECM).

This system controls all the important operations within engines and the transmissions. It also does the job of monitoring vehicle emissions. It keeps harmful and dangerous emissions low by adjusting engine and transmission performances according to different factors like speed, load gasoline quality, engine temperatures, ambient air temperatures on a constant basis. Sensors of different types and various electronic devices assist the ECM for this primary function. If it sees something wrong with some of the components, or if signals from one of its sensors are out of range it will turn on the “Check Engine” or the “Service Engine Soon” light on control panel and store the corresponding trouble codes inside its memory.

Technicians will connect diagnostic scanners to the vehicle in question to retrieve those stored trouble codes. This will then be the start of a diagnostic trouble flow chart that will ultimately end with the necessary repairs on the vehicle’s engines. Once the repairs are completed, the technicians will then reset the PCM or computer and clear the “check engine” light.

One of the issues that you will have to contemplate as vehicle owner is the extent and effects of the problems plaguing your car, especially on the engine. You find yourself at times in between choices of having a simple and tolerable easy repair or forced into considering such problems in the engine that are already grave enough that it would need serous attention. This is where you are faced with the prospect of whether or not you are going to invest money into your vehicle.

You actually have three choices here; getting re manufactured engines (which most favors), a reworked or rebuilt engine, or installing used a engine. Whatever the case is the engine service and repairs center you chose should deliver on its promises. Repair jobs should not include return jobs. You want to save money on future costs; it’s why you brought your car to the center in the first place. Think of Concord Mechanical when you need engine service.

Do you have this feeling that something’s just not right with your car, especially with the way it is running? It may be a good time for drivability diagnostics. This review will seek out the problem and give you a heads up of what is may be wrong with your car.

Drivability refers to anything having do with how your vehicle is performing while on the road. From the fuel system to affected components and other systems like the Powertrain, ignition, distributor, exhaust system, brakes, tires, suspension etc… the list is endless. With the proper diagnostics, the problems are zeroed in on and solved before they become a major issue.

One of the main areas this type off testing looks at is the powertrain Control Module (PCM). It is the Engines control System, the on onboard computer in every vehicle that acts as the brain of the engine. A PCM or circuit system failure can be the cause of many problems in your car including the transmission. If the vehicle undergoes a drivability diagnostics test, problems will be sorted out within the Powertrain’s operational parameters.

In many situations, the more common problems surface because we neglect or are unaware of proper care of our car. Electronic systems are one example, emissions are another. They can be a delicate pieces of equipment. Frequent or scheduled drivability diagnostics checks should be preformed. What are some of the commonly occurring problems you may see in a vehicle?

Intermittent stalling of engines… some of the known causes include a worsening Idle Speed Control (ISC) System, ignition loss, low fuel pressure, EGR or vacuum leaks and many more. The Idle speed of every engine is manipulated through the amount of air that is permitted to bypass throttles using the idle bypass circuit witch is located within the throttle body. The Powertrain Control Module then monitors the idle speed, and it utilizes a solenoid,a small electric motor to position a valve that manipulates the airflow through air bypass circuits. If a sensor in this system fails, it could be the cause of your problems. A diagnostics check could find the issue and repairs can be made.

Aside from that, the analysis will also seek out any problems that hamper your vehicle engine’s performance, such as;

idle smoothness

hot and cold starting procedures

efficient throttle responses and most importantly…

effective power delivery.

Many complaints directed to drivability issues may be more serious than the average concerns. In these situations, such issues are verifiable and better addressed via a more in-depth scanning and diagnosis by qualified technicians with the latest test computers and diagnostic equipment. Modern vehicles have their own special diagnostic requirements. Skilled technicians updated with the current procedures, techniques and new technologies are the most qualified to conduct such diagnostics. Concord Mechanical’s technicians are ASE certified, insuring that your car is fixed right the first time.

A properly functioning Powertrain Control Module will prevent such problems and ensure you will spend more time on the road then in the shop. If you feel you’re having a drivability or PCM related issue, or any other type of problem contact Concord Mechanical right away to set up an appointment.

Some diagnostic procedures employed decades ago are still being practiced today, but limited to older vehicle types. Concord Mechanical has the experience to handle both the latest model automobiles as well as your import vintage and classic. Contact Concord Mechanical today if you are having any issues with your car.

Emissions testing may be defined as that process of determining dangerous levels of hazardous materials emanating from your motor vehicle with internal combustible engines. In the United States the emissions testing is a mandatory requirement. The goal here is to cut down on the pollutants that pose serious threats to the environment. The action is in response to improving the quality of air we are breathing.

Emissions testing is the direct result of decades of studies and research spent into the dangerous world of vehicle emissions, all the harmful particles that come out of it, and the efforts to create strong public awareness about the matter. The very first studies about motor vehicles, and how they accidentally or incidentally became big factors towards environmental degradation were conceptualized back in the fifties. Car manufacturers got their act together in the sixties as they had started self-regulating their own vehicle’s emissions. These days, states are getting into the game and forcing manufacturers to come up with new and much better ideas for emission reduction just to stay competitive and car owners to insure their cars meet the required standards.

Although modern technology has dictated new and improved changes on vehicle emissions over the years, the threat to human health and to the environment still persists. These days we have no federally mandated consumer emissions testing. But the Environmental Protection Agency is currently working with different states to recommend its regulation. Regulations are on a state-by-state basis.

The pollutants that automobiles with standard internal combustion engines release into the environment are without a doubt harmful to life. The hydrocarbons act as unburned fuels that create smog, which is among the main culprits of cancer growth. The same thing can be said about nitrous oxide; it brings both smog and acid rain. Another pollutant is in the form of particulates, the soot byproducts in the fuel that promotes respiratory problems and other concerns. Carbon monoxide is another antagonistic fume that can do a job in the human body; and is especially dangerous for folks with heart disease problems. But the most concerning of them all may be Carbon Dioxide, as it is thought to wreak havoc to the environment on a global scale, and a primary torchbearer for global warming crusaders.

Most people are aware of various methods that vehicle manufacturers use to control emissions so they can pass the emissions testing procedures. That infamous Check Engine Light should be a “check emissions light” as it alerts the driver to a polluting engine more then a damaging repair situation but no one would react to it.

One most effective systems in reducing harmful emissions is the catalytic converter, which changes potentially harmful fumes into a less damaging gases just before releasing them into the atmosphere. However care and attention is needed to these parts as catalytic converters are becoming more and more expensive to replace, with the cost of repair reaching $1000 or more.

Another emissions reduction system is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (EGR) and the Positive Crankcase Ventilation systems. These systems are positioned in different areas of the engine and their purpose is the reduce other discharges. Both systems work to filter or re-burn the vapors coming into the combustion chamber effectively reducing the formation of those pollutants normally caused by heat on the combustion chambers.

Other systems also function to handle and deal with the known dangerous vapors that are formed when gasoline evaporates. This is achieved through evaporative controls. Here, charcoal canisters trap those very dangerous evaporating gas vapors from being released into the atmosphere. Then the air injection system helps by introducing air into exhaust to stimulate combustion, which in turn destroys other unburned fuel present. This process aids the catalytic converter in its job. If you think you are having an issue with your catalytic converter or have the check engine light on or flashing set up an appointment at Western New York’s top auto repair and service center, Concord Mechanical today.

Nobody wants car problems or an unexpected breakdown and the costs that come along with it. Having our vehicles fixed in an emergency can be expensive and time-consuming activity. That’s why we need to anticipate such problems before they even begin to materialize. Sadly though, this is seldom the case. While you can avoid some repairs for a few months, some problems need immediate attention. But some problems, if ignored could put your family in danger.

One of the areas your need to pay close attention to is an electrical problem. The nature of such problems is often hard to diagnose, especially if you plan to take it on right in your garage or backyard. Electrical diagnosis and repair requires specialized equipments; and better left to professionals. With the right diagnostic tools, these professionals are in the best position to seek out problems, identify them and do whats necessary to get them fixed. If you believe you are having electrical issues contact the experts at Concord Mechanical, your Western New York ASE certified auto service and repair shop.

Just like many other forms of vehicle issues, electrical problems can be intermittent and downright frustrating, and very inconvenient. Electrical diagnosis and repair services can best handle electrical problems like:

Car batteries, and everything about it (charging systems, starters, alternators, etc.)

Lighting systems, including brake lights, turn signals, warning lights and more

Power windows and door locks, including power seats

Parts of the cruise control systems

Various short circuit problems in wiring systems

Air suspension, air bag problems

Traction control

Transmission and shifting

These are just some issues that an electrical diagnosis and repair service can diagnose, and in no way the complete package. Basic troubleshooting and electrical diagnosis includes some strategies in engine lights checks. Defective systems under the influence of computerized control programs in engines are better determined through knowledge and skill on how such systems operate.

Problematic areas or sections are identified as repair services follow standard and logical troubleshooting processes. Most modern computerized engine control systems are blessed with their own self-diagnostic features and capabilities to aid the technician in proper diagnostics. Malfunctions in sensors, output devices, or even within the internal computer systems themselves are stored as diagnostic trouble codes within the computer’s memory. These stored codes are retrieved using interactive scan computers at witch point the technician use the data to identify the proper test needed to repair the misbehaving system. The process will isolate some systems where failures have originated to minimize the troubleshooting time required and save money by preventing the unnecessary replacement of good parts.

Electrical diagnosis repairs normally start with a simple visual inspection and observations of check engine light and dashboard indicators. In most cases, this will lead directly to identifying particular problems. Any obvious broken, burnt, cracked or corroded areas ought to be given attention first before proceeding with the diagnosis procedures. Along the way, problems like disconnected or broken sensors and vacuum lines are presented into clear view.

Electrical diagnosis and repair procedures also rely on having automotive multi meter checks for resistance and the voltage throughout the car. Most sensors and output devices can undergo ohmmeter checks to determine if they are functioning correctly. Many times, these activities proved more than just simple searches. Troubles elsewhere are often tagged with this sort of procedure and any identified abnormal activity clearly has no place to hide and the qualified technicians at Concord Mechanical can locate and solve your problem the first time. Contact Concord Mechanical today.

Many automobile owners today spend a lot of money maintaining their vehicles without understanding the most basic information about the steering and suspension service options that they have to keep their vehicles running well. It is advisable that you do everything that you can to learn about these services, for you would most likely be making use of them as you use your car as well. Here are some basic things that you should understand about suspension and steering services. With these bits of information, you should be able to maintain your car and help keep it operating as efficiently as possible.

In a nutshell, suspension service is required when there is a problem with the moveable components that allow the front and or rear wheels to move and carry the vehicle’s weight. Springs and shocks have been used for this specific purpose in the past, but newer developments in the field of car technology have utilized hydraulics and air to perform this task as well. The steering system is another part of this and allows you steering and control over the vehicle. Does your car need its shocks replaced? It is important that your vehicles tires maintain constant contact with the road at all times and this is the work of shocks and struts.

Going for steering and suspension service will allow you to address any type of problem that you may have concerning the over-all control system of your vehicle. If you have been having problems with noise over bumps or the change in direction your car will take in certain situations, for example, then there is a good chance that something wrong with your car’s steering mechanism. If you find that car rides have become less comfortable than usual, however, then there may be problems with your vehicle’s suspension system. It is important that you take your vehicle in for a steering and suspension service as soon as you can not only to ensure that all problems will be fixed as soon as possible, but also to avoid further damage.

The length of time that the steering and suspension service will take depends on the type of problem that you vehicle has, and on the repairs that are needed. Obviously, if you have left the problem go for quite some time you may have caused more serious damage to your vehicle by not servicing it when you should have, you may have to wait a longer amount of time before the problem can be fixed. Just make sure that you use a good Auto Care Center with qualified-experienced technicians in the field leaving your vehicle in good hands.

Remember as I have said in the past the best money spent is on an oil change with multi-point inspection at your regular auto repair shop it’s the time to get answers to all your vehicle questions at a bargain price.
